       Senator Burgess moved the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
    2  
    3         Delete lines 26 - 50
    4  and insert:
    5         (2) The Major John Leroy Haynes Florida Veterans’ History
    6  Program is created within the Division of Arts and Culture as a
    7  Florida Folklife Program to collect and preserve the stories and
    8  experiences of Florida’s veterans and the State of Florida’s
    9  military contributions throughout the nation’s history. The
   10  division may request assistance with the program from the
   11  Department of Veterans’ Affairs.
   12         (3) In order to collect and preserve the stories and
   13  experiences of Florida’s veterans and the State of Florida’s
   14  military contributions throughout the nation’s history, the
   15  division’s folklorists shall seek out and identify those
   16  veterans who are willing to share their experiences. The
   17  division or a folklorist may interview veterans or invite
   18  veterans to submit written or electronic accounts of their
   19  experiences for inclusion in the program.
   20         (4) As provided in s. 265.802, the division may contract
   21  with a third-party vendor to fulfill its responsibilities under
   22  subsection (3).
   23         (5) The division may adopt rules to implement the program.
   24         Section 2. For the 2024-2025 fiscal year, the sum of
   25  $91,207 in recurring funds from the General Revenue Fund is
   26  appropriated to the Division of Arts and Culture of the
   27  Department of State, and one full-time equivalent position with
   28  associated salary rate of 68,771 is authorized, to implement and
   29  administer the Major John Leroy Haynes Florida Veterans’ History
   30  Program as created by

   35  and insert:
   36         “veteran”; creating the Major John Leroy Haynes
