    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to the administration of controlled
    3         substances; amending s. 893.05, F.S.; authorizing a
    4         practitioner to cause a controlled substance to be
    5         administered by a certified paramedic; providing an
    6         effective date.

    8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
    9  
   10         Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subsection (1) of section
   11  893.05, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
   12         893.05 Practitioners and persons administering controlled
   13  substances in their absence.—
   14         (1)(a) A practitioner, in good faith and in the course of
   15  his or her professional practice only, may prescribe,
   16  administer, dispense, mix, or otherwise prepare a controlled
   17  substance, or the practitioner may cause the controlled
   18  substance to be administered by a licensed nurse, a certified
   19  paramedic, or an intern practitioner under his or her direction
   20  and supervision only.
   21         Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
