1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to carrying concealed weapons and
3 firearms into athletic events; amending s. 790.06,
4 F.S.; revising the list of places into which a person
5 may not carry a handgun or a concealed weapon or
6 concealed firearm to allow actively sworn law
7 enforcement officers to carry concealed weapons and
8 concealed firearms into certain athletic events when
9 attending as a private citizen; providing an effective
10 date.

12 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

14 Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subsection (12) of section
15 790.06, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
16 790.06 License to carry concealed weapon or concealed
17 firearm.—
18 (12)(a) A license issued under this section does not
19 authorize any person to openly carry a handgun or carry a
20 concealed weapon or concealed firearm into:
21 1. Any place of nuisance as defined in s. 823.05;
22 2. Any police, sheriff, or highway patrol station;
23 3. Any detention facility, prison, or jail;
24 4. Any courthouse;
25 5. Any courtroom, except that nothing in this section does
26 not preclude precludes a judge from carrying a concealed weapon
27 or concealed firearm or determining who will carry a concealed
28 weapon or concealed firearm in his or her courtroom;
29 6. Any polling place;
30 7. Any meeting of the governing body of a county, public
31 school district, municipality, or special district;
32 8. Any meeting of the Legislature or a committee thereof;
33 9. Any school, college, or professional athletic event not
34 related to firearms, except that this section does not preclude
35 an actively sworn law enforcement officer as defined in s.
36 943.10(1) from carrying a concealed weapon or concealed firearm
37 when attending such event as a private citizen;
38 10. Any elementary or secondary school facility or
39 administration building;
40 11. Any career center;
41 12. Any portion of an establishment licensed to dispense
42 alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises, which
43 portion of the establishment is primarily devoted to such
44 purpose;
45 13. Any college or university facility unless the licensee
46 is a registered student, employee, or faculty member of such
47 college or university and the weapon is a stun gun or nonlethal
48 electric weapon or device designed solely for defensive purposes
49 and the weapon does not fire a dart or projectile;
50 14. The inside of the passenger terminal and sterile area
51 of any airport, provided that a no person may not shall be
52 prohibited from carrying any legal firearm into the terminal,
53 which firearm is encased for shipment for purposes of checking
54 such firearm as baggage to be lawfully transported on any
55 aircraft; or
56 15. Any place where the carrying of firearms is prohibited
57 by federal law.
58 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2025.
