    1                          Senate Resolution                        
    2         A resolution designating April 2, 2025, as
    3         “Independent Online Sellers Day” in Florida.
    4  
    5         WHEREAS, digital commerce has transformed Florida’s economy
    6  by enabling thousands of small and medium-sized businesses to
    7  reach customers worldwide, and
    8         WHEREAS, 60 percent of everything sold in Amazon’s store
    9  comes from independent sellers, the majority of which are small
   10  and medium-sized businesses, and
   11         WHEREAS, more than 56,000 independent businesses in Florida
   12  sell in Amazon’s store, and
   13         WHEREAS, these independent businesses sold more than 358
   14  million items in 2023, and
   15         WHEREAS, independent sellers from around this state are
   16  visiting Tallahassee today, April 2, 2025, to meet with
   17  legislators and talk about their businesses, NOW, THEREFORE,
   18  
   19  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:
   20  
   21         That April 2, 2025, is designated as “Independent Online
   22  Sellers Day” in Florida to recognize the contributions of
   23  independent online sellers to our state’s economic growth and
   24  prosperity.
   25         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution, with
   26  the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to the Florida
   27  Chamber of Commerce, Associated Industries of Florida, and the
   28  Florida Retail Federation as a tangible token of the sentiments
   29  of the Florida Senate.
