       Senator DiCeglie moved the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
    2  
    3         Delete lines 944 - 968
    4  and insert:
    5         339.85 Next-generation Traffic Signal Modernization
    6  Program.—The department shall implement a Next-generation
    7  Traffic Signal Modernization Program. The purpose of the program
    8  is to increase traffic signal interconnectivity and provide
    9  real-time traffic optimization to improve traffic flow and
   10  enhance safety. The program shall:
   11         (1) Provide for retrofitting existing traffic signals and
   12  controllers and providing a communication backbone for remote
   13  and automated operations and management of such signals on the
   14  State Highway System and the nonstate highway system.
   15         (2) Prioritize signal upgrades based on average annual
   16  daily traffic and the impact of adding to an existing
   17  interconnected system.
   18         (3) Use at least one advanced traffic management platform
   19  that uses state-of-the-art technology and that complies with
   20  leading cybersecurity standards, such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001,
   21  ensuring robust data protection.
