2 An act relating to jai alai permitholders; amending s.
3 550.475, F.S.; authorizing holders of valid pari
4 mutuel permits to lease certain facilities to any
5 other holder of the same pari-mutuel permit or to any
6 jai alai permitholder when located within a specified
7 radius of each other; authorizing such lessees to
8 apply for a certain license; prohibiting such lessees
9 from operating a cardroom or slot machine at the
10 leased facility; requiring certain jai alai
11 permitholders to conduct a minimum number of live
12 performances using their existing permit; prohibiting
13 operation under a lessor’s permit; providing an
14 effective date.

16 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

18 Section 1. Section 550.475, Florida Statutes, is amended to
19 read:
20 550.475 Lease of pari-mutuel facilities by pari-mutuel
21 permitholders.—Holders of valid pari-mutuel permits for the
22 conduct of any pari-mutuel wagering in this state may are
23 entitled to lease any and all of their facilities at their
24 permitted location as of January 1, 2021, to any other holder of
25 a same class valid pari-mutuel permit or to any jai alai
26 permitholder, when located within a 35-mile radius of each
27 other; and such lessee may apply for a is entitled to a permit
28 and license to conduct intertrack wagering and operate its race
29 meet or jai alai games at the leased facility but may not
30 operate a cardroom or slot machine license at the leased
31 facility. A jai alai permitholder that leases a facility from
32 another permitholder in accordance with this section must
33 conduct a minimum of 20 live performances using such
34 permitholder’s existing permit and may not operate under the
35 lessor’s permit premises.
36 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2025.
