       Senator Gaetz moved the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
    2  
    3         Between lines 4025 and 4026
    4  insert:
    5         Section 17. (1) The Department of Education shall work
    6  with eligible nonprofit scholarship-funding organizations (SFO)
    7  to resolve discrepancies in which a student was awarded a
    8  scholarship under s. 1002.394, Florida Statutes, and was
    9  reported by a school district for funding during a student
   10  membership survey under s. 1011.62(1)(a), Florida Statutes, for
   11  the 2024-2025 fiscal year. The department and SFO must reach a
   12  resolution that does all of the following:
   13         (a) Provides documented evidence of the student’s actual
   14  enrollment and attendance at a public school and, if applicable,
   15  evidence of the student’s withdrawal from a public school.
   16         (b) Allows the student to maintain his or her scholarship
   17  award if the department has documented evidence of eligibility
   18  at the time the payment was deposited into the student’s
   19  scholarship account.
   20         (c) Ensures that school districts receive full funding for
   21  all students whose enrollment and attendance were verified
   22  during the student membership surveys.
   23         (2) The department shall report the findings of all
   24  discrepancies under subsection (1) and their respective
   25  resolutions no later than May 31, 2025, to the chair of the
   26  Senate Appropriations Committee, the chair of the House Budget
   27  Committee, and the Executive Office of the Governor’s Office of
   28  Policy and Budget.
