       Senator Avila moved the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
    2  
    3         Delete lines 46 - 83
    4  and insert:
    5         Section 2. Subsection (6) of section 1007.2616, Florida
    6  Statutes, is amended to read:
    7         1007.2616 Computer science and technology instruction.—
    8         (6) High school students must be provided opportunities to
    9  take computer science courses and earn technology-related
   10  industry certifications to satisfy high school graduation
   11  requirements as provided in s. 1003.4282(3). Computer science
   12  courses and technology-related industry certifications that are
   13  identified as eligible for meeting mathematics or science
   14  requirements for high school graduation must be included in the
   15  Course Code Directory. Computer science courses that include
   16  instruction in artificial intelligence should provide students
   17  with a foundational understanding of artificial intelligence to
   18  critically evaluate how artificial intelligence systems use data
   19  to present information; recognize the benefits, limitations, and
   20  potential risks of artificial intelligence; and apply ethical
   21  reasoning to the responsible use of artificial intelligence in
   22  academic and personal contexts.

   26         Delete lines 2 - 15
   27  and insert:
   28         An act relating to technology education; amending s.
   29         1007.25, F.S.; providing requirements for general
   30         education core courses with a technology component;
   31         amending s. 1007.2616, F.S.; providing that high
   32         school computer science courses that include
   33         instruction on artificial intelligence should contain
   34         certain content;
