       The Appropriations Committee on Pre-K - 12 Education (Burgess)
       recommended the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
    2  
    3         Delete everything after the enacting clause
    4  and insert:
    5         Section 1. Subsection (4) of section 1003.44, Florida
    6  Statutes, is amended to read:
    7         1003.44 Patriotic programs; rules.—
    8         (4) Each district school board shall adopt rules to
    9  require, in all of the schools of the district and in each
   10  building used by the district school board:,
   11         (a) The display of the state motto, “In God We Trust,”
   12  designated under s. 15.0301, in a conspicuous place at each
   13  public school in the district and in each building used by the
   14  district school board.
   15         (b) Subject to legislative appropriation, the display of
   16  portraits of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln in a
   17  conspicuous place at each public school in the district. The
   18  Department of Education shall select the portraits and make them
   19  available to each school district.
   20         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2026.

   25  and insert:
   26                        A bill to be entitled                      
   27         An act relating to patriotic displays at public
   28         schools; amending s. 1003.44, F.S.; requiring, subject
   29         to legislative appropriation, each district school
   30         board to adopt rules to require the display of
   31         portraits of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln at
   32         each public school in the district; requiring the
   33         Department of Education to select the portraits and
   34         make them available to each school district; providing
   35         an effective date.
