       The Committee on Judiciary (Simon) recommended the following:
       
    1         Senate Substitute for Amendment (279886) 
    2  
    3         Between lines 131 and 132
    4  insert:
    5         4.A home education student must meet the requirements of
    6  the home education program pursuant to s. 1002.41.
    7         a.During the period of participation at a school, the home
    8  education student must demonstrate educational progress as
    9  required in subparagraph 3. in all subjects taken in the home
   10  education program by a method of evaluation agreed upon by the
   11  parent and the school principal, which evaluation may include
   12  review of the student’s work by a certified teacher chosen by
   13  the parent; grades earned through correspondence; grades earned
   14  in courses taken at a Florida College System institution, state
   15  university, or trade school; standardized test scores above the
   16  35th percentile; or any other method designated in s. 1002.41.
   17         b.The home education student must meet the same standards
   18  of acceptance, behavior, and performance as required of other
   19  students in extracurricular activities.
   20         c.A student who transfers from a home education program to
   21  a public school before or during the first grading period of the
   22  school year is academically eligible to participate in
   23  interscholastic extracurricular activities during the first
   24  grading period, provided the student has a successful evaluation
   25  from the previous school year, pursuant to sub-subparagraph a.
