CS/SB 1198: Prescribing of Controlled Substances

GENERAL BILL by Health Regulation; Bogdanoff

Prescribing of Controlled Substances; Providing requirements that a physician who prescribes certain specific controlled substances for the treatment of chronic nonmalignant pain must fulfill; providing that the management of pain in certain patients requires consultation with or referral to a psychiatrist, rather than a physiatrist; providing that a prescription is deemed compliant with the standards of practice and is valid for dispensing when a pharmacy receives it; providing that a pharmacist or health care practioner is exempt from reporting a dispensed controlled substance to the Department of Health when administering the controlled substance to a patient who is receiving hospice care or to a patient or resident receiving care at certain medical facilities licensed in the state, etc.
