Committee on Regulated Industries
The committee has jurisdiction over the Department of Business and Professional Regulation. This includes the regulation of alcoholic beverages, tobacco, hotels and restaurants, condominiums, cooperatives, timeshares, mobile home parks, pari-mutuel wagering, and nonmedical professions ranging from accountants to veterinarians. The committee also has jurisdiction over the Department of Lottery.
The committee shares jurisdiction over the funeral and cemetery services within the Department of Financial Services and the regulation of surveyors and mappers.
Some other issues that the committee has considered include the Florida building code, gambling and Indian gaming, homeowners associations, bingo, the implementation of the smoking ban, implementation of the slot machine amendment, construction lien law, and fees on tobacco manufacturers.
