Project Description:
Farm Share receives fresh produce from Florida Farmers and Farmers in other states. This food is repackaged utilizing inmate and volunteer labor and distributed to soup kitchens, food banks and other non-profit groups in all counties of Florida to feed those in need, at no charge to the soup kitchens and churches and homeless shelters or to the individual families. Farm Share also distributes, at no charge, USDA commodities to the five southern counties.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
This budget allocation will allow Farm Share to continue in its mission of recovering as much fresh produce as possible and distributing nearly half of the USDA "Mass Household" food in the State of Florida. While there is no way to repeat the successes of last fiscal year with $940,000 in funding (when our recovery and distribution was 30.2 million pounds) but $400,000 will enable us to keep our doors open, recover approximately 9 million pounds of fresh produce, and distribute USDA commodities as made available.
