Project Description:
The Village is seeking to expand treatment services for adolescent girls, ages 11-17, who have co-ocurring disorders(substance and mental health). Girls spend up to 6 months in residential treatment at The Village where they receive drug treatment, psychiatric services, family reunification and vocational and academic training. The University of Miami is a collaborator with the project, working with The Village in the National Institute on Drug Abuse Clinical Trials Network. Research that comes from the Clinical Trials will add valuable information regarding "best practices" treatment and allow policy makers to administer more efficient and effective services.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
80% of girls who complete will remain in school or employed at 6 months post treatment. 75% of girls who complete treatment will not become involved (or recidivate) in the Juvenile Justice System at 12 months post treatment. 90% of girls who complete treatment will not become pregnant one year post treatment. 80% of girls who complete treatment will be reunited with their families or foster care placement at 1 year post treatment.
