The state wide interest addresses and supports protective child welfare issues and welfare reform pertaining to services of the Department of Children and Families and the Agency for Workforce Innovations. Affordable childcare directly impacts the ability of single unwed caregivers to participate in the workforce as well as job development skills training.

Project Description:
This childcare facility will provide a safe learning environment for children, in addition to providing parenting skills training coupled with job skills development and placement referral assistance. Ancillary case management services to appropriate agencies regarding mental health will also be provided.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
The measurable outcome will be that forty (40) children and units of family/guardians will receive subsidized childcare services in addition to employability skills training and referral for job development training and assignment through the appropriate placement agencies throughout the term of fiscal year 04-05. Fifty percent (50%) of participating parents/guardians will receive job development training; thirty percent (30%) will become employed after participating, and all children will imporve their basic knowledge of assembling alphabets and numbers.
