This project will protect water quality and quality throughout the Southern Water Use Caution area of the SWFWMD and contribute to the institution of Agricultural Best Management Practices. The project will also assist in the meeting Minimum Flows and Levels and support the District in addressing Total Maximum Daily Loads.

Project Description:
This project will provide a partial cost reimbursement for the construction of agricultural best management practices, related to the conservation of groundwater and water quality improvement through the eight county area contained within the Southern Water Use Caution Area. The Disstrict will perform approximately 20 separate public/private partnership projects per year over the next ten years through this program with an average cost of $400,000 per project.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
In addition to improvements in surface water quality to assist with the implementation of Total Maximum Daily Load reductions, the District predicts a reduction in groundwater pumpage of 40 million gallons per day in the Southern Water Use Caution Area. This is a major portion of the water savings needed to meet the goals of the District's Southern Water Use Caution Area Recovery Plan and the District's Regional Water Supply Plan.
