Project Description:
Enrollment Growth Funding would support an additional 400 students consistent with the approved enrollment plan for FY 2005-06 by the Board of Governors. This would provide maximum access to degree programs in the Sarasota-Manatee region in targeted degree program areas to meet statewide professional and workforce needs. This funding would provide opportunity to continue to expand full degree programs to support the instructional needs of faculty in the classroom and support student needs and increase retention and graduation rates. The increased campus autonomy to enhance local responsiveness request supports compliance with 240.5275 F.S. to initiate the process of application to the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools for separate accreditation of the USF Sarasota-Manatee campus. Specifically, to undertake this process, addressing curriculum, faculty, financial, physical and foundation, governance, library and technology, and students needs is necessary in those areas that are currently well below threshold requirements. It is being proposed that a four-year funding program address these issues. In the area of Program Development Access to Degrees, in order to maximize access to high quality education funds are being sought to meet statewide workforce needs in degree areas that support local economic initiatives in Hotel and Restaurant Management, and South County initiatives to support more course offerings in health, nursing and education and student services. The Facilities Enhancement Challenge Grant would be used as matching grant support for local fund raising activities to support the facility enhancements at the Crosley Campus Center. The PECO Infrastructure request will be utilized for necessary infrastructure improvements on the Viking properties The Viking property will become a part of the USF Sarasota/Manatee footprint upon implementation of the footprint agreement between NCF and USF Sarasota/Manatee
