Statewide Interest:
Highlands County is a host county for evacuees and currently has no wind compliant shelters. The economic health of Lake Placid is hampered by the lack of a Cultural/Civic Center and is in a desiganted rural area of critical economic concern. Lake Placid is centrally located making it accessible from both coasts and south Florida.

Project Description:
Provide the Town of Lake Placid a cultural/multi-use center that would be constructed to meet hurricane shelter requirements. Lake Placid is located on a major evacuation route and currently has no wind compliant shelters.
