This is primarily a stormwater management and flood protection project. The proposed project is to purchase two lots and construct a retention area along a major north/south collection route in the Town of Sewall's Point (S.Sewall's Point Road) and provide flood portection/open space preservation. The area lies within a flood plain. The project includes excavation of stormwater retention/storage area outside of travel areas where none currently exists, removal of exotic vegetation and provision of stormwater storage for an area that currently floods. The improvements will protect Sewall's Point Road, a major local evacuation route. This project will also provide water quality benefits to the community.
