Project Description:
Construction of building containing laboratories, marine mammel pools, offices and classrooms with distance learning capabilities. Building to house programs conducting reasearch and eduacation in the areas of biomedical marine research, marine mammel research and veterinary medicine, and estuarine and coastal ocean science.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
The center will advance efforts to find new drugs from the sea, with all the treatment options for cancer, Alzheimer's and other serious diseases; advance understanding of estuarine, coastal and ocean environments, thus enabling natural resource managers to make better decisions to harmonize population growth with environmental protection; initiate marine mammel veterinary training partnership with a state university veterinary program; and build rehabilitation, quarantine and research tanks for marine mammels.
