Statewide Interest: |
The ability to allow healthcare providers access to patient health information at remote locations will increase their efficiency and reduce the cost of healthcare. By making core patient health information readily available to providers wherever they are making their decisions, this project will also improve the quality of healthcare. Further, this project will imbed clinical guidelines into the presentation of the data to help providers make informed decisions consistent with approved methods of patient threatment. This data and analysis will be shared with the Governor's Health Information Infrastructure Advisory Board and AHCA. |

Project Description: |
This project seeks to improve the quality of healthcare while reducing costs. In partnership with a private provider, Winter Haven Hospital seeks to present patient data to authorized parties in a useable format to support sound decisions about health by providers when and where needed. This would include access at any time through the Internet on desktop computers and mobile devices such as personal digital assistants, laptop computers, and even cell phones. This presentation of data at remote locations will increase the efficiency of healthcare providers and serve to lower the costs of healthcare. The technology will also include the ability to embed clinical guidelines for Congestive Heart Failure into the presentation of the data. Better use of clinical guidelines backed by evidence-based medicine will improve measureable outcomes for the patient. |

|
Measurable Outcome Anticipated: |
The hospital will be able to collect and analyze data that will demonstrate how the remote presentation of data increases efficiency as well as showing how clinical guidelines can gain wider acceptance when readily available while the provider is making healthcare decisions. Patient outcomes will improve with the greater use of these evidence-based guidelines. |
