Project Description: |
This project will include major improvements to both roadways and pedestrian facilities along Tarpon Avenue (SR 562) and Pinellas Avenue (U.S. Alternate 19) through the heart of the city's historic district. Improvements will include: water and sewer replacement and repair; under-grounding of utility lines; engineering; landscaping; and improvement to pedestrian facilities. This project will be completed in conjunction with the reconstruction and resurfacing of both roads by FDOT in order to realize maximum efficiency and purchasing power. |

Measurable Outcome Anticipated: |
a. will improve the movement of traffic and traffic safety on two state roads which serve as major arteries through northern Pinellas County and serve as hurricane evacuation routes.
b. will contribute a major building block in the implementation of the City's documented redevelopment plan for its CRA which lies within the project area.
c. will serve to promote tourism in the area through the enhancement of pedestrian facilities, beautification and easing of traffic flow through the heart of the tourist area of the historic district.
d. the project will produce meaurable results through the improvement of traffic flow, improvement of vehicular traffic, repair and replacement of aging infrastructure, burial of power/utility lines, improvement of pedestrian facilities and the beautifcation of the area.
e. the project will fulfill a documented need for improvement of these major state roads as documented by the FDOT. |
