| Project Description: |
| This will provide funding for Camp Matecumbe. The property contains ten buildings originally used to house unaccompanied Cuban refugee children as part of the Pedro Pan Program. Once renovated the buildings will accomodate recreational and educational programs that will focus on environmental features of the adjacent pine rockland habitat and the cultural significance of the site as it related to Operation Pedro Pan. Purchase of the property was made possible through the Florida Forever Funds of the Florida Communities Trust, and through assistance from the County's Environmental Endangered Lands program and the Pedro Pan Group, Inc. |
