Project Description:
The SE 9th Avenue bridge over the Charles Waterway is a 20 foot, single span pre-stressed concrete bridge constructed in 1960. The 2003 DOT bridge inspection report identified significant deterioration of structural members and moderate scaling and multi directional cracking of abutment caps. The bulkhead sheet piles are spalled with through corrosion of reinforcing steel and some outward rotation. The proposed project will correct these deficiencies by setting a new reinforced concrete slab deck on augered piles placed behind the existing bulkheads.
