Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Through high standards for student achievement, accountability for results, and mentoring activities and techniques, SHAPE helps students develop essential skills and knowledge in academic subjects and life lessons. The SHAPE program is designed to empower students to impact their communities and enrich their own lives. By participating in SHAPE, students are educated through mentoring and experiential learning in the areas of philanthropy, community service, leadership, and the non-profit sector. They come to understand the wide range of needs of their schools and community and how they can actively address those needs. SHAPE measures its successful impact on students through combined tools of pre-and-post testing, questionnaires, surveys and evaluations. SHAPE mentors are helping to raise standards and promote literacy and educational inclusion for student participants. By mentoring students, SHAPE is succeeding in giving disaffected pupils greater confidence and is promoting more positive attitudes toward education.
