| Project Description: |
| For approximately a decade, as a State owned facility, Coconut Grove Playhouse received line item funding of $500,000, but became ineligible since Coconut Grove Playhouse was slated to receive the deed to its facility and surrounding property late spring 2004. The playhouse became eligible to apply for funding through the State Grants Process. However, this was mid-cycle for Category I (maximum funding of $350,000) funding, the category in which the playhouse belonged as dictated by budget, therefore, the Playhouse was invited to apply under Categories II & III for the $100,000 maximum funding available. Due to the fairness of the historical participants in the category funding in the amount greater than $14,000 each year for fiscal years 2004-2005 and 2005-2006 would severly impact the budgets of those worthy smaller organizations. The request of $336,000 is to cover the shortfall between Category I funding and the funds awarded from categories II & III, until the Playhouse may apply for Category I funding for fiscal years 2006 & 2007 |
