Project Description: |
PACE Collier is a gender specific prevention/intervention program that provides academics, intense counseling, and life-skill education services to girls between 11-18 years of age, identified as at-risk. PACE's on-site educational services ensure that academic needs are addressed and ultimately result in promotion and/or graduation. Girls are assigned to a teacher/advisor and social worker to address therapeutic and academic treatment plan goals. Three full-time counselors provide individual, group and family counseling services. The ultimate goal of PACE is to divert girls with identifiable risk factors from entering the DJJ System and to assist their development as productive citizens. With this current appropriation, PACE intends to match the funding and re-locate its current program from a rented building of 6,000 square feet and build a 2.75-acre campus with community use space. This project will expand services to include an additional 35-40 girls, ages 11-18 identified as high risk for delinquency behavior. |

|
Measurable Outcome Anticipated: |
The overall outcome measure of this project is to reduce the number of girls (ages 11-18) served by PACE from entering the juvenile justice system by 70%. This outcome will be achieved by reducing at-risk factors and delinquent behavior through education, counseling and life-skill development in a safe, nuturing, gender sensitive and competent environment. Indicators such as attendance, grade and high school completion, acceleration in standardized settings and a reduction of referrals and adjudications to DJJ will be tracked. |
