Duval County currently finds itself in a shelter deficit for Hurricane Protected Area Sheltering. This fact has been documented in the State Hurricane Sheltering Report. There are two area shelters that the 200,000 plus residents in the Northwestern portion of the county are slated to go to they are: Oceanway Middle School, 143 Oceanway Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32218 which is more than 10 miles away and LaVilla School of the Arts, 501 N. Davis Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202, which is more than 5 miles away. |
