Project Description: |
The facility houses the Gadsden County Extension Service. The building is used for agricultural and community activities, workshops and training institutes. Established programs in Family Resource Management, 4-H, Parenting, Community Resource Development, Agriculture, Parenting and Affordable Housing are daily educational opportunities available for county, state and regional participants. These opportunities allow participants to increase their knowledge base and acquire technical assistance from two land grant Universities and the United States Department of Agriculture. Other programs, and activities that are available because of this facility are Livestock Shows (steer, swine, heifer and horse); Sales and Auctions (livestock, farm, household and office equipment); and educational opportunities in the areas of Worker Protection Standards, Small Business Development Classes, Day Care Workers Certification, First Aid, Traffic School and Pesticide Licensing Training and testing. The facility also serves as a disaster relocation center for livestock statewide. The meeting room facilities are used by community organizations for various meetings. |

Measurable Outcome Anticipated: |
Objective: To reconfigure existing Crop and Livestock Pavilion to accommodate a multi-purpose functional center. It will provide an adequately spaced rural community educational facility, as well as an emergency disaster relocation center for livestock, companion animals and people of Florida. Outcomes: The state of Florida will have a multi-purpose facility that would house livestock, companion animals and people during periods of weather and related emergencies where relocations paramount for safety and saving lives. With an improved state of the art facility, increased use of the facility for livestock shows, agricultural fairs, 4-H camps and commodity related educational activities will occur. This facility will also double as a county and regional conference center. The enhancement and renovation of this facility allows for increased community educational course offerings to learn new skills and improve knowledge base in a variety of subjects and trades. |
