Project Description:
The Florida Veterans Mobile Service Center is an outreach program to poor veterans in the state of Florida. It travels throughout the state of Florida providing a range of outreach, health, dental and social service interventions to veterans living in encampments, on the streets, in derelict boats, in condemned housing and in other places not meant for human habitation. The unique "user-friendly" approach of this mobile unit has led to many successful housing placements. The goal of the Mobile Service Center is to be on the road two hundred days a year. To date, it has traveled more than 50,000 miles to offer its services to 125 veterans a month, on average.
