This program is part of the state's statewide Brain and Spinal Cord Research Network, comprised of programs at the University of Florida, the university of South Florida, and the University of Miami. Research at Florida's research universities leads the nation in development of regeneration stategies and functional rehabilitation technologies, to reduce cost of care and improve quality of life of trauma survivors.

Project Description:
These funds will continue the work being done by the McKnight Brain Institute as one of the partners in the network searching for a cure for paralysis. This funding level will support the University of Florida's efforts at the same level as that of the requested funding for the University of Miami.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
As part of the statewide network, this research will help to develop new therapies for clinical use in treating trauma patients, in preventing further trauma injury to the patient, and hopefully in learning how to cure or reverse the damage of the trauma experience.
