Project Description: |
Develop family preservation and support program for parents involved in the criminal justice system and their children. Specific target population are parents being released from correctional facilities and reuniting with their childre. many prisoners are parents who lack the skills and training to effectively fulfill their parental responsibilities. The children usually become the responsibility of the state in that their caretakers, be it family members or foster parents are receiving aid from Department of Children and Families. These children have been reared in an environment, which may have been supportive of criminal behaviors while under the supervision of their parents. The adult role moder (parents) engaged in the same gehavior, which have wreaked havoc on the quality of life of our community and their children. These children are at highest risk for becoming involved with juvenile justice and subsequently adult criminal justice system. |
