The purpose of this project is to improve the surface water quality of the Banana River, reduce demand on potable water supply in Brevard County, and thereby reduce groundwater and surface water withdrawals by providing an economical method of storing reclaimed water in a shallow aquifer storage and recovery system.

This project will reduce pollutant loadings on the Banana River by taking effluent which would otherwise be discharged to the Banana River and storing it underground for future use. The estimated initial pollutant load reductions on the Banana River are: Total Suspended Solids: 2,283 lb/year, Total Nitrogen: 1,370 lb/year, Total Phosphorus: 457 lb/year.
