Project Description:
Plant City is under consent order (OGC File No. 02-1867, Southwest District) to reduce the amount of contaminants released to the environment. It also requires that as of March 31, 2007, the City "shall reduce Specific Conductance of these constituents or by treatment so that the Facility's effluent is in compliance with the water quality standards for Specific Conductance as defined in Rule 62-302.530, F.A.C." and establishes maximum levels for such Specific Conductance. The effluent is currently being discharged into the Eastside Canal and then to the Hillsborough River (an Outstanding Florida Water). The 'contaminants' include Bromodichloromethane, Thallium and Total Nitrogen. SRF funding is being sought for costs that cannot be covered by grant funds.
