Project Description: |
Mayo Park is located within the city limits of the Town of Mayo on a 4.8 acre tract of land situated at the intersection of Bloxham Street (CR 251) and Main Street. The exisitng park has as its main attraction numerous huge 100 years old or more Live Oak trees that provide shade and beauty to the land. The park is used as the site of the Mayo Chamber of Commerce annual Pioneer Day celebration which is an arts and craft festival that attracts several thousand visitors to Lafayette County each October. The park has a dilapidated gazebo and three existing period buildings which are used to display arifacts from the part. Mayo Park has few outdated picnic tables and benches and the plan is to create walking paths, repair exixting structures to eliminate potential for injuries, establish restrooms and water fountains and to intall playground equipment and bar-b-que sites. |
