Project Description:
The objective for this project is to improve the traffic circulation, traffic capacity, pedestrian access and drainage of the existing roadway, which connects NE 183rd Street to the Miami Gardens Drive Extension (NE 185th Street). The roadway will be reconstructed to meet the minimum standards for a public roadway in the City of Aventura. The following improvements are planned for the roadway: � Drainage improvements � Pavement and curbing improvements � Sidewalk improvements � Street light improvements Completion of this project will improve the traffic circulation between NE 183rd Street to the Miami Gardens Drive Extension (NE 185th Street) and will improve safety by installing a pedestrian access path (sidewalk) and street lighting. The drainage system will be evaluated and upgraded as necessary to minimize flooding during peak rainfall events. The improved traffic circulation will aid in evacuation efforts, should that become necessary during an emergency.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
The proposed project involves significant drainage improvements to an area that is subject to frequent flooding and extended periods of standing water. Currently storm run-off is directed to several catch basin which are located outside the pavement section and easement via roadside swales. Overall the existing drainage system is wholly inadequate. The proposed project will help protect the environment in the followings ways: 1) provide an effective drainage system that will be designed to collect and pretreat stormwater runoff prior to discharge; 2) reduce flooding and standing water throughout the study area; The collective result will be a major benefit to the environment.
