| Port Orange plans to harden the soon to be constructed Amphitheater Pavilion according to American Red Cross 4496 Shelter standards. Lessons learned during the hurricanes of 2004 have initiated this improvement. Construction of this facility fulfill an acute need for Impact and ARC compliant shelter space and thus reduce Volusia County's current shelter deficit. The project has been approved and included in the Local Mitigation Strategy by the "Volusia County 2020" Steering Committee. | |||||||||
