| Project Description: |
| Miami Children's Hospital is one of the largest Medicaid providers in the State, as a percentage of total net revenues. More than 54% of the hospital's revenues are allocated to Medicaid patients. We provide the highest amount of emergency room care for children in Florida, responding to almost 90,000 visits in 2004. Even though the hospital is a cost-effective provider, the difference between Medicaid payments and the cost of providing care is estimated at $12 million for 2004 in addition to providing over $6 million in unreimbursable charity care. The Disproportionate Share Program increase access to health care for children by makeing it possible for the hospital to continue to provide the best care to children regardless of their ability to pay. |
