Statewide Interest: |
Homeless individuals either stay or come to Palm Beach County from other places throughout the state and country to live in this community and reap the advantages of climate. Currently, there is no program to serve the immediate emergency needs of homeless adults. This program will assist the client to transtion from homelessness to the most appropriate homeless, substance abuse and/or mental health provider, best suited to satisfy the individual client need. The program provides two phases- a 1-3 day stay, providing assessment, case management and referral/linkage services and a 1-30 day stay for substance abusing homeless individuals. This program will provide police drop-off and walk-in services to the community. It is the first of its kind in Palm Beach County and will become an integral part of the currently existing local homeless continuum of care. By serving the needs of the homeless population of Palm Beach County, we wil be serving homeless individuals who migrate here from other cities in south, central, and north Florida, as well as from other areas of the country. |

Project Description: |
The Homeless Residential Assessment Program is a new, 12-bed program serving homeless/homeless chemical abuser/dependent individuals and in Palm Beach County. This program represents a holistic approach to assisting this underserved client population, both in that it represents a public/private funding partnership and in its mission to serve the needs of the whole person. Funding support comes from a variety of municpalities and private funders. The program consists of two phases a 1-3 day assessment phase which will result in referral/linkage of the client to the appropriate homeless network provider and a 1-30 day phase for homeless individuals with substance abuse problems. this public/private partnership will be a run as a three-year pilot program between the homeless Coalition of Palm Beach County and CARP, Inc., spearheaded by Palm Beach County Commissioner, Addie Green. This project is licensed by the Florida Department of Children and Families as a Level IV Residential Program and is the first of its kind program that permits homeless individuals a place to walk in for immediate assessment services. |
