Project Description:
This proposal requests $225,000 for a project designed to reduce the overwhelming number of children suffering from mental health problems and reduce the need for foster care placement. The State of Florida's Strategic Plan for Infant Mental Health was developed to strengthen the emotional development of children. Emotional support and guidance can help parents to foster healthy social and emotional and cognitive development and detect problems in their earliest states when treatment is most effective. Early intervention is designed to alleviate disorders of childhood including depression, traumatic stress disorders, attachment disorders and many more mental and emotional disorders that will undermine success in school and life. By assisting parents and caretakers recognize the importance of quality care, forming attachments, and providing rich experiences, we foster future success and well being. Thus requested funds will be used for start up costs to train staff as well as raise community awareness and support of this program.
