Project Description:
Unique year-round educational opportunity in Marine Science for undergraduates and graduate students.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
With the strong support of the treasure Coast Legislative Delegation, FAU is establishing a world-class program of educaiton and research in marine science in collaboration with the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution (HBOI). This partnership has already counted a phenomenal achievement in being selected as one of the three high-technology Centers of Excellence in the state, with funding of $10 million over the next two years. Among the promising research areas already under development is the investigation into the use of marine compounds in the production of medicines. Full funding will enable us to complete the undegraduate component, including a coordinated 2+2 program with the Indian River Communnity College, and the graduate/research component in conjunction with HBOI.
