| Project Description: |
| Frequently, children of substance abusing parent(s) go into foster care at the expense of the state while the parent receives residential treatment. Beyond traditional child care, this program seeks to: 1). Provide a comprehensive assessment (physical/medical, bio-psychosocial, educational) of children entering Gateway with their parent; 2). Educate the parent regarding assessment results to help them understand their child's various needs 3). Develop a wellness plan for the child; 4). Help the parent link with health and wellness services; 5) Provide a personalized developmental program for each child while the parent is in substance abuse treatment and then with parent and child together after treatment; 6) Provide post-treatment education/support. |
