HB 235: Rosa Parks Act

GENERAL BILL by Fields ; (CO-INTRODUCERS) Sands ; Meadows ; Traviesa ; Zapata ; Vana ; Waldman ; Machek

Rosa Parks Act; creates said act; authorizes Board of Executive Clemency to grant full pardon to person convicted of protesting or challenging state law or municipal ordinance the purpose of which was to maintain racial segregation or racial discrimination of individuals; requires that pardon be granted unless state attorney files objection with Parole Commission on grounds that conviction did not result from violation of law or ordinance, etc. Amends Ch. 940.
