GENERAL BILL by Transportation and Highway Safety Subcommittee ; Baxley

Ignition Interlock Devices; Provides for placement of ignition interlock device on all vehicles of person convicted of driving under influence for specified periods based on violation; provides exception for certain first-time convictions to allow option of driver license suspension or placement of ignition interlock device; gives court discretion to revoke driver license or driving privilege notwithstanding allowed option; revises maximum allowable blood-alcohol level at which ignition interlock device will allow operation of vehicle; revises provisions prohibiting tampering with or circumventing ignition interlock device; revises provisions concerning operation of vehicles owned or leased by employer of person subject to ignition interlock restrictions when such operation is required in scope of his or her employment; requires that any driving privilege extended to persons with previous arrests under specified provisions must require use of ignition interlock device.
