CS/SB 2464: Wrongful Incarceration Compensation [LPCC]

GENERAL BILL by Criminal Justice ; Joyner ; (CO-INTRODUCERS) Ring

Wrongful Incarceration Compensation [LPCC]; provides that person who has been wrongfully convicted of felony offense & incarcerated within DOC as result of that conviction may be financially compensated if determined to be actually innocent; requires that claimant submit specified documents to Legal Affairs Dept. as proof of eligibility for compensation; provides for waiver of specified tuition & fees for claimants compensated under act; authorizes Legislature to make official apology, etc.
