Project Description:
Purchase and demolish substandard structures in one of Florida's most blighted, high crime communities. This area has the highest crime rate, highest level of infant mortality, highest number of single mothers, highest illiteracy rate, and highest level of unemployment in the Tampa Bay region. The land will then be leased to Junior Achievement for the construction of an economic education program in two phases. This program will provide real-world financial and economic educational opportunities that will help at-risk children and families learn to be self-sufficient, contributing members of society. Development of this program will be part of a massive redevelopment initiative currently underway that has been recognized nationally as a model for community revitalization.

1) Unemployment in the area will drop to within 1% of the state average. 2) Property crimes will drop 15% per year. 3) Dropout rates and truancy rates will drop by 5%.
