State Senator Ileana Garcia to Present Ceremonial Check to Community Health of South Florida, INC. for $700,000 That She Worked to Secure During the 2022 Legislative Session

Miami, Florida —

On Thursday, July 7, 2022 Senator Ileana Garcia alongside Community Health of South Florida, Inc. (CHI), will be hosting a ceremonial check presentation for $700,000 that she successfully secured during the past legislative season under House Bill 2905.

The event celebrates the expanded funding for the South Florida non-profit that has consistently provided affordable, high quality primary and behavioral health services to all residents in Miami-Dade and Monroe County for the past 51 years. "It is critically important for our community to have access to quality healthcare and behavioral services, especially for the most vulnerable. I was honored to work with Community Health of South Florida this past session to secure these vital state funds so they can expand their services in Miami-Dade," stated Senator Garcia.

CHI was born out of the need to provide a comprehensive medical care center for both the insured and uninsured in the community. From pediatrics, urgent care, OB/GYN, dental, and radiology to providing free medication delivery and patient transportation, CHI is notably comprised of 13 state of the art health and 36 school-based care sites focused on a “one-stop-shop” model that delivers accessible and culturally sensitive services. The institution also became the first Federally Qualified Health Center in the nation to be rewarded the prestigious Governor’s Sterling Award in 2016 for its exemplary efforts in performance and productivity.

The allocated funding will further allow the not for profit organization to conduct its trailblazing efforts in healthcare with increased residential access to medical care services, equipment, and training for the next generation of medical professionals.
