Teacher Professional Development IOEA
Add the following new paragraph of proviso for
Specific Appropriation 104 on page 28:
From the funds appropriated in Specific Appropriation 104, $1,000,000
shall be used by the Department of Education to develop a matching funds
teacher professional development program to assist teachers to
successfully prepare students for the FCAT. Funds shall be provided on a
matching basis to schools wishing to provide intensive teacher
preparation on FCAT content and strategies. Schools shall be eligible
for a maximum of $4,000 in matching funds per school and must train
30-50 teachers per school with each grant. "D" and "F" schools shall
have priority access to these matching funds. If any "D" or "F" school
demonstrates financial hardship to the Department of Education, the
match from the school may be reduced. The Department of Education shall
develop guidelines for certifying providers to provide this training to
schools. Test preparation training providers must have a successful
record of demonstrating the ability to improve student test scores at

the K-12 and postsecondary levels. The Department of Education shall
develop measures to assess the success of the teacher training program
and its impact on student test scores.
Line item amendments are accepted as part of the amendatory process. However, due to the necessity of using computerized systems this may entail a different placement
within a budget entity or the renumbering of the specific appropriation items. |
