Report of diseases of public health significance to department.

381.0031  Report of diseases of public health significance to department.--

(1)  Any practitioner, licensed in Florida to practice medicine, osteopathic medicine, chiropractic, naturopathy, or veterinary medicine, who diagnoses or suspects the existence of a disease of public health significance shall immediately report the fact to the Department of Health.

(2)  Periodically the department shall issue a list of diseases determined by it to be of public health significance within the meaning of this chapter and shall furnish a copy of the list to the practitioners listed in subsection (1).

(3)  Reports required by this section must be made on forms furnished, or by electronic means specified, by the department.

(4)  Information submitted in reports required by this section is confidential, exempt from the provisions of s. 119.07(1), and is to be made public only when necessary to public health. A report so submitted is not a violation of the confidential relationship between practitioner and patient.

This section does not affect s. 384.25.
