State drinking water sample laboratory certification program.
403.8635 State drinking water sample laboratory certification program.--
(1) In addition to certifying laboratories pursuant to s. 403.863, the 1Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services is authorized to establish a periodic certification and approval program for laboratories that perform analyses of drinking water samples, which program will assure the acceptable quality, reliability, and validity of all testing results.
(2) The 1Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services has the responsibility for the operation and implementation of laboratory certification pursuant to this section, except that, upon completion of the evaluation and review of an application for laboratory certification, the evaluation shall be forwarded, along with recommendations, to the department for review and comment prior to final approval or disapproval.
(3) The 1Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services is authorized to charge and collect fees for the evaluation and certification of laboratories pursuant to this part. The fee schedule shall be based on the number of analytical functions for which certification is sought. Such fees shall be sufficient to meet the costs incurred by the 1Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services in the administration and operation of this program. All fees shall be deposited in a trust fund administered by the 1Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services to be used for the sole purpose of this section.
